Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive placed a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" associated with the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the deaths, public figures expressed different comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering divisive remarks that were widely condemned by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the detractors recently. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
